R. Scott Hannay, M.D.

Dr. Hannay received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 1992 and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1996. He then completed his general surgery residency at West Virginia University in Charleston, West Virginia. He joined Surgical Associates of Columbus in August of 2001. In 2007 he left to pursue a surgical critical care fellowship through the Emory University School of Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital. He will resume his active practice in July of 2008.

Dr. Hannay is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and is eligible for the Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgical Critical Care. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma. He has been an Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor since 1997, a course director since 2003, and state faculty since 2007. He has served as the Medical Director of the trauma service at The Medical Center since 2003, as well as chairman of the Department of Surgery from 2005 to 2007. Upon return to Columbus he will also assume the role of Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at The Medical Center. Special interests include management of severely injured patients and trauma systems development.
